The owner brings a professional resume with nearly 20 years experience as a registered nurse before founding Empress. It was born from a desire to serve women in this community in a distinctive manner within our resort setting. Empress is the premier speciality intimate apparel boutique located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina! Jennifer Black is the owner, operator & founder of Empress Curated Loungewear and Intimates.
After a successful 20 year career as a Registered Nurse, Jennifer became frustrated with the lack of intimate apparel options (specifically bra fittings) in the local community, and decided to pursue her dream of filling this void.
UK trained via the Intimate Apparel Consultancy & US trained via Eveden fit school (twice attended) led by renowned fit expert Freddy Zappe .
Custom bra fitting is Jennifer's passion. Empress has the bra for you, up to H cup! Come visit to find your perfect fit!
BSA 2022 Finalist!!
In the Summer of 2022, Empress was nominated by Intima Magazine, the premiere magazine dedicated to the intimate apparel industry, in the "best newcomer" category! We eventually became a finalist, and attended the Best of Intima Awards & Gala in New York City, a tremendous honor and incredible experience!
